Thanks to our wonderful donors we were able to act quickly to provide relief to those in need on the Mornington Peninsula in April and May 2020. Small grants to the community included food vouchers, mobile phones, IT, PPE and community meals.

Donors helped Somers Residential School Camp with a $5000 donation to provide hearty meals for over 350 local families each week, making the most of their staff and resources despite being closed to students.

Chef Lars Pedersen and his staff whipped up meals of butter chicken, lasagne, roasts, cannelloni, or risotto for families with children at Eastbourne, Tootgarook, Rosebud, Somerville, Somerville Rise, Hastings, Wallaroo, Bittern, Tyabb, Taradale and Crib Point primary schools.
Principal Mark Warner had this to say: “thank you for helping fill up our beautiful families’ bellies. The food was amazing. We had so many parents cry with gratitude”.

We were happy to donate $5000 to expand school counselling service for children experiencing increased vulnerability at home. This service is a vital lifeline that helps children cope, especially during these unusual times which are intensifying pressures for families.

These small grants provide immediate support to the community in times of need as well as help MPF develop relationships with people working on the ground on the Mornington Peninsula.
